WHAT P0128 MEANS

P0128 means coolant temperature did not follow the PCM's expected warm-up/regulation model. Compare ECT and IAT after a long soak, then graph ECT with speed, load, fan command and cabin heat. A stuck-open/wrong thermostat is common; low coolant, trapped air, sensor bias and unwanted fan operation can imitate it. FCA bulletin 18-021-20 includes P0128 in a 2019 JL 2.0L software update across listed markets, while 18-014-20 has a narrower 2018 JL 2.0L regional P0128 branch. Match model year, engine sales code, market and calibration—these are not universal thermostat bypasses.
