If the cap was found loose and the sealed system passes the approved test, that is meaningful evidence. A returning P0457 requires complete system diagnosis.
Underbody exposure changes inspection priority
Inspect vapor hoses, quick connections and canister mounting for road damage, corrosion and disturbance after fuel-pump or collision work. Do not infer leakage from dirt alone.
