Honda bulletin 99-075 Procedure A includes those two Pilot model years and lays out FTP-sensor, HDS function, valve and vacuum tests. A loose cap is therefore not the automatic P1457 conclusion. Preserve fuel level/soak conditions, test purge and canister-side valve sealing, inspect hoses and isolate the system. Later Pilots use generic P044x strategies and should not inherit the early component map.

Pilot diagnostics span several J35 V6 generations, cable and electronic throttle systems, port and direct injection, VCM cylinder-deactivation hardware, conventional caps and later capless fillers, plus FWD/AWD drivetrains. The V6 has two cylinder banks and six cylinder-specific misfire codes. Confirm VIN, model year, engine/calibration, emissions label, drivetrain and current Honda bulletin or warranty-extension eligibility before testing or ordering parts.
