The first number is section width in millimeters, the second is sidewall height as a percentage of width and the final number is wheel diameter. That is why 215/60R17 and 215/65R17 are not interchangeable labels even though both fit a 17-inch wheel.
Match the full size, load index, speed symbol and service description on the vehicle label. A tire that physically mounts can still have the wrong load capability or outside diameter for ABS, stability control and driveline operation.
