Check level only when cold and inspect recent cooling-system work. Trapped air can produce unstable heater output and a misleading warm-up trace.
Graph the full drive instead of watching the gauge
Plot temperature against time, speed, load, fan command and cabin heat. A slow climb followed by a repeatable fall during highway airflow is stronger thermostat evidence than a gauge that remains near its broad center range.
Compare commanded and actual fan behavior. A relay or control fault that runs fans when cold can remove enough heat to delay warm-up even when the thermostat closes.

QR, VQ, direct-injected PR and variable-compression engines do not share every cooling component or air-bleed step. Confirm engine and model year before opening the system.
After repair, verify stable scan temperature, consistent cabin heat and a completed monitor in comparable weather. Clearing P0128 immediately after installation is not proof.
