P0300 records crankshaft-speed disturbances across several cylinders or without a consistent leader. Save P0301–P0304 companions, enhanced counters, freeze data and correction before clearing. One cylinder leading needs a targeted plug/coil/injector/compression path; all four rising together shifts attention to shared fuel pressure, intake/charge leakage, purge flow, timing, voltage or contaminated fuel. A 1.5L turbo adds direct-injection pressure and boost plumbing; a K24 adds valve-clearance and oil-control context. No single Honda bulletin authorizes the same P0300 repair on every CR-V generation.

P0300 matures when no one cylinder fully explains the crank variation, but enhanced counters may show a useful order.

Do not load the parts cannon

Do not install four coils because the code says multiple. Plugs may be victims of oil, fuel or compression problems. On direct-injection models, never loosen a high-pressure line as a test.

Why the model year changes the test

CR-V diagnostics span the first-generation B20, K24-powered second through fourth generations, 1.5L turbo and 2.4L fifth-generation versions, newer 1.5L turbo models and 2.0L hybrid systems. AWD does not create another engine bank, but engine management, direct injection, turbo plumbing, EVAP packaging, VTEC oil hardware and hybrid operating modes change. Confirm the VIN, market, engine, build plant, emissions label and current Honda campaign status before selecting a flowchart or part.

  • K24 engines need correct valve-clearance, timing and VTEC oil-system context.
  • 2017+ 1.5T models add charge leaks and low/high fuel-pressure diagnosis.
  • Hybrid engine stop/start requires appropriate service mode and counter interpretation.
