Disconnect the battery, clear codes after a repair, have a module reprogrammed, or in some cases have the truck towed, and P1000 appears by design. Driving the truck is what clears it.

A drive cycle that actually completes the monitors

The single most common reason P1000 lingers is that the truck is being driven, but not in the variety of conditions the monitors need. Ten minutes of stop-start town driving every day can leave monitors incomplete for weeks.

Plan one deliberate drive instead. Park overnight so the engine starts genuinely cold — several monitors will not run without a proper cold start. Keep the fuel tank somewhere around half full, because the EVAP monitor is gated on fuel level and is usually the last to complete. Then drive a mix: a period of steady road speed, some town-speed work, and a few decelerations where you come off the throttle and let the truck slow without braking hard.

Fifteen to twenty minutes of that mixture will complete most monitors. The EVAP monitor may need a second cycle on another day, which is normal rather than a sign of a problem.
